About me

I, vh, am an aging Ph.D. in English who helps produce scholarly journals for a living. With a staff of four serving six client publications, my office is supported by the Great Desert University, a gigantic state institution whose leaders would like to model it along the lines of a megacorporation.

Single with one adult son, I live well and pretty much debt-free on a laughable salary, and I hope one day to retire in the splendor to which I deserve to become accustomed. As you can imagine, this craving makes me a little Funny about Money.

I love to garden. . .

to swim in my pool . . .

If you are reading this  because you hope to find the answers to your own challenges, remember: I am not a shrink. Do not go off your meds because you read here that someone else managed to deal with anxiety without pills. Never change your medications without first discussing your plan with your doctor. That said, if this blog gives you some ideas that make your life better, or if you have ideas to share, more power to you. And I’d love to hear about it.

I miss pals Walt the Greyhound and Anna H. Banana, R.I.P. Anna occupied my life for 13 years, and Walt was part of the menagerie for five.
